The Annual Meeting of the Ohio City Gardeners was Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 12:30 PM. at the
Cleveland Botanical Garden in University Circle.
Having recently become affiliate members of the Botanical Gardens we were able to have a guided tour of the grounds and both greenhouses. The outdoor Waterfall gardens were absolutely amazing. If you have not seen them you definately have to take the time out and visit the Botanical Gardens.

The Ohio City Gardeners held ther 2007 Annual Meeting at the home and gardens of Fred Bess and Jeff Converse.
|
On June 24, 2007 the Gardeners met at the home of Fred Bess and Jeff Converse in Brunswick for their Annual Meeting. The property consists of a mix of bog gardens and rare specimen gardens. Fred is an avid botanist and strives for unique qualities in the plants that he chooses. He has even been written about in the Wall Street Journal.
Picnic lunches were the order of the day followed by the Annual Meeting. Afterward a tour of the grounds took a few hours. The Ohio City Gardeners were able to see first hand the growing habits of cranberries, poison sumac, butterfly weed and many rare plants such as native pachysandra. The list can go on and on.
Along with Fred's passion for plants he makes jelly out of many of his rare specimens. A possible tasting may be in the works for the fall after harvest.
